47yrs Old: My Current Morning Skin Care Routine

In this post, I’m going to go over my morning ritual and I will say that I do change up my products from time to time. There are always new and interesting products and in my opinion, I think it’s good to switch up your skin care routine every once in a while. However, I do recommend keeping the products that you truly love and that you feel are working for your skin type. I also want to point out that these products work great for my skin. That doesn’t mean they will necessarily work for your skin. But if it helps to know, I have combination skin and I tend to get oily and breakout only in the T zone.

So, I start out by pulling my hair into a ponytail to get it completely out of my face.

The first product I start out with is my cleanser. My cleanser is one product that I definitely switch up from time to time. Right now I’m washing my face with Olay Cleansing Infusion with ginger extract. ($6.89) It’s a mild exfoliant so it’s safe to use every day. Ginger is great for anti-ageing, blemishes and acne, and skin toning.

You’ll notice I’m using a soft exfoliater with the cleanser. It’s the Sephora precision pore cleansing pad to really get into the pores and clean the face without being too aggressive. It’s only $6 and I literally use it every single day. I haven’t really broken out since I started using it either. (Yes, at 47, I still do get an occasional pimple) I would say maybe one every 6 months or so. Not so bad. This is one product I never switch up. I use it in the morning and at night. It’s excellent.

Ok, after my face is clean and dry, I prep my skin for my makeup.

First I take any remaining makeup off of my eyes. I use Neutragena oil free makeup remover. ($6.99) It’s really light and does a great job. Be sure to be gentle around the eyes and that goes for women of any age.

Next I use a toner to get any excess oils from my face. Right now I’m using Bobbi Brown Extra Treatment Lotion ($68). It does the trick without drying out my skin. (This is expensive so if you want a more inexpensive toner, I recommend using Bert’s Bees rosewater toner. ($10). )

Then I use Olay Regenerist Whip Face Moisturizer ($31). This is for my fine lines and and it’s great for daytime use since it’s not super heavy. For me, this is my biggest problem area, so I use this every single morning.

The next must have product I use is Murad Skin Perfecting Lotion ($40). Just like the Olay Regenerist Moisturizer, this is a light weight moisturizer that is great for day time use. It hydrates my skin while also minimizes the appearance of pores. Love that!

Now the next skincare product I use is the MAC Prep + Prime Fix Water Mist ($26). It’s a nice refresher that gives me an extra pep in my step. Trust me, some mornings I need it more than others. I’m 47 years old with a toddler, I need all the help I can get. I just spritz it on and let it dry or I use a puff to pat it dry if I’m in a hurry.

The next product I use is the Olay Eyes Ultimate Eye Cream ($30). I normally go for a more potent retinol for around my eyes, but since I’m pregnant, I’m opting for a more mild eye cream. I actually leave this product in the refrigerator. It feels so refreshing to put it on in the mornings. I feel like the cold helps with any puffiness as well.

Lastly, I use Origins Ginzing Energy-boosting moisturizer on my entire face ($29.50). It really wakes me up and makes me feel really refreshed. I love it.

Ok, so there you have it. I know it seems like a lot of products but at my age, I really do believe that I need them to help the fine lines and to give my skin that extra energy boost that it needs throughout the day. I also have this routine down to a science, so I can get it all done relatively quickly.

I listed all of the products below and I have them listed on my website as well.

Ok, so that’s my video on my morning routine. Thank you so much for watching and I hope you enjoyed it. Please like it, comment and subscribe. It would make my day! Take care and I’ll see you next time.
